Southern Medical Group, P.A. is a physician owned, multi-disciplinary medical practice based out of Tallahassee, FL, with offices spanning throughout the North Florida, South Georgia area. Founded over 30 years ago, Southern Medical Group remains the provider of premier internal medicine, cardiovascular, and vascular care in the region. Thousands of patients each year place their trust in our 19 board certified cardiologists, 15 board certified internists, 2 board certified vascular surgeons, and 34 advanced practice providers.
Tallahassee Memorial Healthcare
Southern Medical Group participates with TMH Physician Partners (TMHPP), which is a community based, multi-specialty group affiliated with Tallahassee Memorial HealthCare.
TMHPP was started as a way to improve the overall health of our community and to move our health system from a system with focus on crisis management and chronic diseases to a focus on prevention and health maintenance. This group is currently composed of over 125 primary and specialty physicians providing healthcare in over 4 North Florida counties.

Students and Residents
Our physicians serve on faculty at the Florida State University College of Medicine, and regularly rotate with their students.
We also precept with both the FSU College of Medicine Internal Medicine Residency Program and TMH Family Practice Residency Program.
Research
Active in research and education, SMG cardiologists own and operate a well-developed, independent clinical research organization, Tallahassee Research Institute. TRI has participated in over 200 clinical trials in the past 20 years and is active in multiple new device and pharmaceutical studies.
Studies cover a variety of cardiovascular diseases ranging from hypertension to valvular heart disease. Many of these studies have been published in prominent medical journals, and several devices studied are now part of standard practice guidelines.
Our Locations
Our locations serve Tallahassee, Perry, and Marianna, Florida, and Thomasville, Georgia. In fall of 2024, SMG cardiology will be expanding to Panama City Beach, FL.
Panama City Beach
In 2024, Southern Medical Group will further expand to the Panama City region, becoming the premiere provider of cardiology services in the area. Practice operations to include diagnostic imaging will be located in the newly constructed medical office building. This healthcare campus is located just minutes from the Latitude Margaritaville Watersound community.
Additionally, Tallahassee Memorial Healthcare and FSU Health are building a state-of-the-art hospital, with an anticipated opening of 2027. Our cardiology team will take leadership in all phases of cardiac services there as well.
